About

The Global Academy for Green Leadership and Innovation has been jointly founded by the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (Guangzhou) (HKUST (GZ)) and the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) International Green Development Coalition, with strong support from the Ministry of Ecology and Environment of the People's Republic of China. The Academy aims to become a benchmark for capacity building and knowledge sharing for BRI green development. By promoting cross-regional innovation and collaboration and enhancing the skills of global leaders and industry elites, the Academy hopes to contribute to building “a community of shared future for mankind”. Through the exchange of best international practices, the Academy explores new drivers for sustainable development and demonstrates China's commitment and leadership in advancing ecological civilization.

What will you learn

Capacity-building is key to realizing the Academy's vision and mission. Participants of the capacity-building include government officials, experts, scholars, and young elites in the field of green development and innovation. The program encompasses a comprehensive curriculum covering topics including, but not limited to, low-carbon technologies, climate finance and investment, and carbon pricing. Through classroom lectures, site visits, and fieldwork, participants will be equipped with profound insights into effective strategies and measures for green development that help facilitate the green transition. Upon completing the program, participants will receive a completion certificate issued by HKUST (GZ). In the near future, the Academy will establish a conversion mechanism that allows hours accumulated from the capacity-building to be accredited towards the University's taught master's degree programs. Participants are encouraged to explore and apply for other degree programs offered by the University.
